Americans Increasingly Coming Out on Facebook

Cool!!!

http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2493295,00.asp

Americans are coming out as gay on Facebook in record numbers, according to a new report from the social network.

Over the past year, approximately 800,000 Americans either updated their profile to express a same-gender attraction or to specify a custom gender. That represents a huge uptick over the past 12 months, and brings the total number of Americans who have come out on Facebook to more than 6 million to date.

"Not only has the total number of Americans who have come out on Facebook risen dramatically [since Oct. 2014], but so has the number coming out each day," Facebook said in the report, which celebrates National Coming Out Day (October 11). "The number of people on Facebook coming out per day is on track to be three times what it was a year ago."

I'm not sure if there were any friends or family on Facebook who hadn't figured out I was gay, but I posted my wedding photos and removed any doubt.

is a sharing of information, bonding, and people likely don't feel so alone.

When I came out the only thing available was some information in some medical books my father had and some described one as having a horrible disease, fortunately one was more moderate.

It's incredible so many people are so damn uptight about sexuality. It's always a total WTF to me that some are so perverse they have to peer and try to manage everyones personal sexual lives.
