I had no idea!

(51,308 posts)I once had a cat who hunted shoes.
I'm not the neatest person in the world and continually wondered why I could never find an entire pair of my shoes. I mean WHY would I take one off in the bedroom and one in the bathroom? Sometimes I could never find the mate to the one I did find.
One day while vacuuming, I moved a table covered with a throw - lo and behold...there were at least six shoes of mine, and one of my roommate's boots. Damn cat stole the shoes, left the mate behind, then hid them.
She must have loved my searches.
I miss her. She lived to a ripe old age, but it was a blow when she died.

(3,370 posts)Plastic bags and other plastics are manufactured with rendered animal fat as a slip agent. Hence the attraction.

(5,751 posts)Of course, I love all animals, but my wife is allergic to all cats, and some dogs. We do have a shih tzu, and a west highland white terrier. She has no allergies to them.

(21,675 posts)LURRRVES chewy things like rubber and plastic. If my flip flops or crocs garden shoes are left lying around, in the morning they will be chewed up. Same goes for plastic shower curtains or zip loc/space bags. i dunno what it is, but he takes his frustrations out on them.
Now shoes, he will also go to town on shoes, rubbing and smelling them, but ONLY on men's shoes, like the ones of two of my sons. weird...
