Baptist Pastor Crushes Kim Davis And The Hypocrisy Of His Fellow Evangelicals In Open Letter

http://www.addictinginfo.org/2015/09/12/baptist-pastor-crushes-kim-davis-and-the-hypocrisy-of-his-fellow-evangelicals-in-open-letter/

Rather than persuading Americans to see evangelicals in a positive light, Pastor Russell Williams of McCormick Road Baptist Church in Florida says that Davis and her fans are actually hurting Christianity by committing hypocrisy and acting so vile that it turns people away from religion.

Williams wrote a post on Facebook thoroughly crushing Davis and her persecution complex, becoming one of the few evangelical pastors in a southern state to openly blast the homophobic Kentucky clerk and her anti-gay supporters.

“This is not a case of the government forcing anyone to violate their religious belief,” Williams correctly stated. “She is free to quit her job. If she quits her job to honor God surely God would take care of her.”

He then points out a huge hypocrisy committed by Davis herself: the fact that she has been married four times.

Williams goes on to accuse Davis of running a get-rich quick scheme by crusading against gay people in an effort to become a martyr who the right-wing will raise money for, and says that evangelicals are losing because they don’t practice what they preach. He also called upon evangelicals to stop trying to force America into becoming a Christian nation.

hatred. The KKK did the same, burning crosses, etc. Really, who in their right mind wants to be associated with all of this hatred and bigotry. I'm not a religious person, but I do remember well being told in my youth, beware of the devil, he will come cloaked in disguises. To me, these jerks are disciples from hell cloaked in fake religion.

I just left is because of the hate and bigotry I heard from the Pulpit, followed by many members.

The hate of our President was awful.

I am glad to have a Minister from the Baptist Church speak out. The harm this is causing in the Bjurch is really bad.

Federal Marshals come in and cart her ass off to jail. In one article I read it was indicated the Federal judge could initiate criminal proceedings against her carrying a 6 month jail term and she would also have to go to court on trial for criminal charges against her.

54. It has been coming; the Evangelical Churches, like this Baptist Church, are bringing a Bible debate

to the Dominion Apostolic Church of Kim Davis and Ted Cruz.

http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/09/04/usa-gaymarriage-kentucky-apostolic-idUSL1N11A1EC20150904

Huckabee bought a permit from the City to hold a rally outside the Detention Center where Davis was released. Cruz was ejected nicely by Huckabee Aid as there were cops standing around to up hold the City Ordinances.

Cruz is using evangelicals who do not read the Bible to find that both Moses and Paul (New Testament) taught the Separation of Church and State. Separation of Church and State is how the Forefathers set up the Constitution of the US and the government of the United States.

25. Same here. Years ago I was pretty neutral about religion. I went to church in my youth.

My parents really weren't very religious, but I think they felt it brought niceties in life. I know my father saw religion as great for his political career, always nice to have that in ones campaign speech. Whatever, it was far different way back then, none of this BS came up in our church. It was a lot about the golden rule and all, being nice to people and trying to help everyone toward a better life.

That said, over the years I've come to despise religion, seeing it now as a very divisive crusade and dangerous to the survival of a free democracy. And now I see some as un-American and really bordering on being domestic terrorists. It my lifetime it has become very hateful. I don't think all religious people are like that, but damn, that's the majority of what one hears anymore.

If someone tells me they are religious, I view them with caution.

I'm a Buddhist in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, altho I grew up in the Christian Episcopal Church in Dallas. My Tibetan Lama at my Buddhist Center in Irving TX just married two beautiful men last week. That has got to be a first in Texas, if not the entire south. I'm not gay, but I have gay family members. Is it really so difficult to practice loving kindness? Is it all that difficult to rejoice and be happy for people, who love one another and want to build a life together? I have yet to hear a cogent agument about how same-sex marriage destroys or undermines anyone else's hetero-marriage. And thank-you for not wanting to convert me back to Christianity. We Buddhists don't try to convert anyone. We are explicitly taught not to do that. If someone wants to know about Buddhism, they have to request the teachings.

70. my first impression was this has got to be....

a New Baptist Covenant pastor or some other progressive, independent Baptist congregation. Turns out they're SBC, a member of the Florida Baptist Convention. Hard to believe. After the conservative takeover of the SBC back in the 80s, the new powers that be don't do separation of church and state. I'm afraid Pastor Williams is going to catch hell over this.
