Amazon.coms Jeff Bezos has responded in blunt terms to a New York Times exposé about his company, firing back that he would resign if working at the e-commerce giant were as awful as the article suggests.
The Times piece, published on Saturday, put a fresh spotlight on the work environment at the hard-driving company.
I strongly believe that anyone working in a company that really is like the one described in the NYT would be crazy to stay, the Amazon AMZN, +0.42% founder and CEO wrote in an email to employees that was obtained by MarketWatch. I know I would leave such a company.
The Bezos message also said the article claims that our intentional approach is to create a soulless, dystopian workplace where no fun is had and no laughter heard. Again, I dont recognize this Amazon and I very much hope you dont, either. ...........(more)

(18,775 posts)At xmas time, EVERYONE had to do shifts in the warehouse - and as much of a jerk as Bezos is, he didn't exempt himself from that. (I used to work there when the company just sold books and music).

(4,147 posts)rich people's houses to be garish and awful? If you look at real estate websites, or when the local newspaper online shows a fancy house, I always think they look awful. Money surely does not buy taste!
