Local Animal cruelty story could use an internet bump.

According to the Facebook comments, WESH t.v. is waiting for a police report, but this is a testimonial someone posted on their Facebook account. Thought it was credible enough to post as a current event. I blocked out the name for the DU posting, but it is available on Facebook.

Last night around 8:30 (still daylight), I witnessed G- A- B- of xxxxx Avenue in Winter Park, FL shoot my neighbor's senior dog in the middle of the street with a loaded 38 pistol. Right in front of my house in historic "prestigious" Winter Park at the corner of Kenwood and Pansy. Lily was immediately rushed to the emergency vet clinic. While she is lucky to still be alive, she will most likely lose her eye and suffer other major injuries due to shrapnel that will forever be lodged in her skull.

Lilly approached the couple walking their dog after pulling out of her owner's grip, never growling or barking. Her owner immediately ran after her and called her name and was right next to her when G- shot Lily. She could have been shot herself! Lilly was on public property in the street. G- and his wife I- C- were on the sidewalk about 3-5 feet away from Lily. There was no warning, there was no shouting, there was no conversation, there was just a gun shot.

I have two dogs of my own and have lived next door to Lily for over 14 years - and she has never shown any signs of aggression. Nor did she show any signs of aggression last night. G- did not shout at the dog, scream, or say anything. It happened so quickly. He was walking around the neighborhood with a loaded gun.

What's equally disgusting, is that this couple just turned their back on their neighbor, ignored her cries while myself and another neighbor took care of the dog, and just walked home as if nothing happened. SO DISGUSTING, inhumane, and absolutely abhorrent behavior! No one feels comfortable walking in the neighborhood anymore. We are all still in shock.

Lily has lived in the neighborhood longer than this man and his wife. Everyone in the neighborhood knows and loves Lily. So those in Winter Park, be careful when walking your dogs or if your dog escapes (I have helped 3 neighbors this year with their dogs who have escaped and ran loose). This guy is a loose cannon and he walked around the neighborhood with a loaded gun. Obviously, he wakes up feeling threatened if he feels the need to walk around Winter Park with a loaded weapon.

This is so wrong. I hope they arrest the shooter for animal abuse. I cannot believe that
Lily was threatening their dogs. She probably just wanted to play.
