Ohio’s Edison sculpture set to occupy Statuary Hall

WASHINGTON Former Ohio Gov. William Allen is on his way out the door of the U.S. Capitol. And Thomas Edison is on his way in.
The switch is part of Ohios effort to de-emphasize a Civil War-era governor who didnt think much of President Abraham Lincoln and who thought fighting the Civil War was a bad idea.
So sometime in the fall, Allens statue will be removed from stately Statuary Hall just off the floor of the U.S. House , and a new statue of Edison, the inventor of the lightbulb and motion-picture camera who grew up in Ohio, will take up residence.
In doing so, Ohio officials hope to start a trend that will eventually lead to the removal of the other 10 statues of people in Statuary Hall with links to the Confederacy or who defended slavery, such as Mississippis Jefferson Davis, president of the Confederacy ...
