Jeremy Corbyn: The British Bernie Sanders?

Following David Cameron's defeat of the British Labour party at the British General election earlier this year, the British Labour party has been having a leadership contest. 3 candidates from the Blairite wing of the party stood, and veteran left winger Jeremy Corbyn.

Corbyn only got onto the ballot paper due to MP's nominating him just to give the parties left wing a nominal candidate, who they hoped would be duly ignored in favour of Andy Burnham, Yvette Cooper and Liz Kendall, all of whom are bland Blairites.

Labour's Blairite top brass have then been shocked as Corbyn has surged to become the frontrunner in the leadership contest, securing plenty of backing from what's left of Labour's grassroots support and also from the trade unions. The whole thing has also descended into an open civil war in the Labour party if I'm honest.

However, I do wonder if any of you can see any similarities between the insurgency of Corbyn and Bernie Sanders?
