One thing I think DU can do well is raise awareness of important issues.
There may have been election fraud in Kansas last November.
That's as important as it gets, and this issue is receiving very little attention.
I'd like to recommend this interesting OP in the Kansas forum about this.

(458 posts)"In the gubernatorial race, we experienced unusual issues with voting machines. The recent letter mentioned the voting machines showing a swing to Gov. Sam Brownback during the last 30 minutes of the election. We experienced the same. In fact, I believe Paul Davis was showing a small lead throughout until the polls closed. As we pulled tapes after closing our site to check for irregularities, we saw Brownback had pulled ahead in the last 10 to 20 minutes. Keep in mind the voting machines were acting strangely throughout the evening."

In the poll watching I did for this election, it seemed to me that we were being out-voted, that it was unfortunately not that common for me to cross somebody off of my list, and I live in a more (slightly) Democratic precinct. For example in 2008 the Democratic candidate for Congress won by 291-112. In 2006, she won by 165-66.

No way he was legitimately re-elected.

All theses electronic voting machines use programs that enjoy copyright protection from public scrutiny, not secure from hacking and there is ample evidence that voting machines can be hacked and here is ours in Arizona! Attorney Bill Risner disclosure statement filed with court Jan 12, 2012, which is a mind blowing, comprehensive statement of facts collected over many years of investigating and litigation of Pima County: http://tinyurl.com/LPFiling
In Tucson, AZ we won 3 court cases to collect the evidence; nevertheless at the end, after 8 years, they would not allow us to present the evidence in court. Pima County Elections programmed the memory cards to rig the outcome of a $2 billion bond election in May 2006. I refer you to this summary article after the Maricopa Appellate Court denied our appeal: http://fatallyflawedelections.blogspot.com/2014/07/elections-remain-compromised.html

(458 posts)Here's a link to an op-ed on this:

Kris Kobach should help count the votes accurately in Kansas
"Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach needs to provide any help he can in making sure votes have been accurately recorded in Sedgwick County."
From the link:
"Wichita State University mathematician and statistician Beth Clarkson has raised questions about whether Kansas voting machines are accurately counting some votes in Sedgwick County. Understandably, she wants tests conducted to see if the odd election returns she has seen have been, in fact, truly reported.
Sedgwick County election officials havent released paper records needed to do recounts. Clarkson is in court now, trying to get the information.
Kobachs office is part of that lawsuit. As the states chief elections official, he should work to help resolve the issue in favor of openness and transparency. His reluctance to strongly embrace that approach makes him look too selective regarding concerns over voter fraud."

I think the writer should have said, "What Kobach calls voter fraud," and pointed out how miniscule voter fraud is, but I'm glad to see any attention in the media about this outrageous situation.
edited to correct that this is an op-ed, not an AP article

(38,613 posts)And it's not as if he ambushed Kerry. He was next up at the microphone to ask questions, and dared to wield a Greg Palast book and ask about election fraud.
Actually, he may have been asking about removing people from voter rolls, but my point still stands.
