Unsung Richard Scrushy - Gov. Siegelman Case Hero: Speaks At D.C. Summit
In Washington, D.C., the annual, national, Whistle Blower Summit (for Civil & Human Rights), starts this Wednesday (July 29, 2015) and continues through Friday. Among the many, many speakers there, it includes notables such as Andrew Kreig of Justice-Integrity Project, Tanya Ward Jordan of Coalition for Change (C4C), a luncheon on Thursday with Senators Grassley and Ron Wyden (D-OR); and a man who suffered much, as all whistle-blowers types tend to do, such as the saga of Governor Siegelman case whistle blower - Mr. Richard Scrushy.
![]() [link:http://www.c-span.org/person/?richardscrushy02| Richard Scrushy is an unsung hero, who paid a very heavy - billion dollar/jail time - price, for refusing to be lie against Governor Siegelman! [br] As reported by Whistle Blower Summit Co-Sponsor, Andrew Kreig (Justice-Integrity.org), informs us that Richard Scrushy (pictured above by C-SPAN) will counsel on "Courtroom Setbacks". It appears that the Republican Party turned on one of its own, to devour him, in order to destroy Alabama's most popular Democrat - Governor Siegelman. Reportedly, Richard Scrushy turned down an inducement to commit perjury, that the Alabama federal prosecutor felt it needed for the sake of insuring a successful prosecution of Governor Siegelman. This proffer of suborning perjury was brought forth from the federal Government (specifically U.S. Attorney's/ Karl Rove friendly) Leura Canary's U.S. Attorney's office. Of significant NOTE is the fact that Leura's husband {William} was CEO of "Business Counsel of Alabama" and turned out to be Governor Siegelman's opponent {Bob Riley} "Advisor". This conflict of interest thingy makes the whole case stink to high heaven. Even more morose and alarming is the fact that Republican attorney, Dana Jill Simpson (NY Times details - HERE), blew the whistle on the unlawful acts of Karl Rove and Leura Canary {who was unlawfully staying in control over Governor Siegelman's prosecution - even though she had publicly declared herself "recused" from the Governor Siegelman related cases}. Detailed by Andrew Kreig (here), at the end of the 5th paragraph, more than 100 Attorney Generals and others wrote letters to the Supreme Court that the prosecution case against Governor Siegelman was erroneous. Many whistle-blowers and other critics have documented irregularities of the federal Siegelman/Scrushy prosecution. In 2008, CBS “60 Minutes” presented Republican lawyer Dana Jill Simpson, who said that Scrushy, a Republican, was a fall guy targeted in a political plot to end the career of Siegelman, Alabama’s state’s most popular Democrat. In an unprecedented filing to the U.S. Supreme Court, 113 former state attorneys general — former chief law enforcers of more than 40 states — protested prosecution.
Detailed below, in a Youtube video, is the remarks by Senator Grassley, given an award for his advocacy about whistle blowers, in 2012. At that time, Senator Grassley pointed out that whistle blowers pay a heavy price for doing the right thing. Richard Scrushy is an unsung hero, who paid a very heavy price, for refusing to be on bend of knee to corruption. We need many more like him. 2. One of the most infuriating aspects of the Seigelman persecution that
the very first thing on Eric Holder's "To-Do" list after being appointed AG
was to get corrupt Republican Senator Ted Stevens out of Jail and his record expunged. ...but Democratic Governor of Alabama Don Siegelman? Never heard of him, and we don't take his calls. |

3. Elena Kagan was Obama DoJ point person on keeping Gov. Don Siegelman in prison.
She sided with Karl Rove:
