U.S. Should Send Troops to Fight ISIS, John Kasich Tells New Hampshire
GREENLAND, N.H. — The day after he announced his presidential campaign, Gov. John R. Kasich of Ohio told New Hampshire voters on Wednesday that the United States government should rally support for sending troops to fight the Islamic State.
“People say, ‘Well, you know, the polls aren’t good for putting boots on the ground,’” he said at a town-hall-style forum at a country club here.
“This is something that has to be done — let’s just do it,” he added to applause from a crowd of about 100 people.
Mr. Kasich, in his second term as governor, addressed national security concerns, the federal budget, being “good stewards” of the environment and health care reform as he spent a second day trying out his candid, blunt-talking Midwestern persona in this early primary state.
