If the Bible wasn't citing it, would you discriminate against gay people

I found the question on Pennlive.com.
Though the question appears to have been asked by a reader it is a good one
Love to hear what sanatorium, bush III (the third is almost always horribly awful), cruz and the rest of the anti-gay crowd would say

(That includes shadfly, fishman at the afa, and the rest of that rot)

In context, She only speaks out against specific same-sex ACTS (child abuse, sexual abuse of prisoners, xenophobic humiliation). And there are just seven Biblical verses against these acts. There are 432 verses against specific opposite sex acts. That doesn't mean God loves straight people any less; they just need more guidance...

than to think some collection of myths is how I should be living my life.

One of the things I really do dislike about the Bible is that it is a completely short-attention span collection of writings. There is absolutely no sustained narrative. So no wonder that those who spend a lot of time reading it aren't very good at following complex arguments and thinking. Constantly reading and rereading the Bible works completely against developing that skill set.

A religious text* is just a convenient reason for people to be afraid of people that are different or that they don't understand.

It probably goes all the way back to when the human race was just a bunch of small nomadic tribes. A stranger was often someone to be feared, if not for violent reasons, for the simple reason that food and water were precious and limited and there was none to spare for a stranger or strangers.

*The Christian Bible isn't the only text that has parts that can be interpreted as being against same sex relations, the Koran has elements as well and I doubt those are the only two religious texts that can be interpreted in a manner sufficient to find a rationalization to have a reason to dislike a certain class of people.
