Help! Friend diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma.

Is anyone familiar with this?

Does he have any chance? I don't anything about this kind of cancer. This is just awful news.

This is the 4th relatively young person I know - 40's and 50's - that has serious cancer. Two have died and now two are still struggling.

a lot depends on the subtype of the lymphoma along with his age and general health. Quite a few lymphomas of advanced stages are treatable.

The stage 4 means that other organs are also involved and that worsens the prognosis simply because the cancer has spread. If the cancer type is treatable the advanced stage makes it more difficult but it's not an automatic death sentence.

Best of luck, I hope it turns out well.

A lot will depend on what kind he has. He certainly has a very good chance - there's been a ton of advances with chemo drugs alone but stem cell treatment has a very high success rate. My husband was 50 when he was diagnosed.

My husband really loved the docs at the University of Chicago. I don't know anything about Missouri hospitals but I presume your area has some good ones?? Its important to shop around and find people your friend feels comfortable with because its going to be a long term relationship.

I am so sorry lefty lady. Feel free to pm me if you have any questions for you and a for your friend.

He is only 42 or 43. His mother is my long-time friend. He has two brothers that he is very close to.

The whole family is just devasted by this news.
