(15,031 posts)The closest I come is recaps on The Daily Show. I neither miss it nor feel that I'm in any way any less informed -- in fact, I suspect I'm more informed, as my time is better spent reading news than passively having it beamed at me.

(4,711 posts)Probably not a whole lot of daylight between her and ol' Tricky Dick, platform-wise. Today's Republicans make yesterday's ones look like tame in comparison.

(5,946 posts)I swear he started talking about her scandals I was about to puke - I shouted you mean her made up scandals!!!!
Now Hillary is not a perfect candidate, I am an anti-corporatist person, but jeez if you are going to attack her at least put some reality into it. this was an insult to my intelligence that only the conservative blogosphere can love, I can't believe they gave him play. you know that the RNC will buy a lot of copies of his book to make it a best seller and then they can get him on more shows to spew

(17,663 posts)I would say that most pols have some if these qualities...
And after the YEARS of crap from the media, rethugs, etc etc I think that would make me suspicious of the media, too....including this guy. Bring up her flaws, but don't play the game of tying her to Nixon and then saying, "of course, she hasn't done anything as bad as Nixon..." This kind of crap pisses me off, in general..

(33,688 posts)The burning ambition to obtain the office for the sake of obtaining the office.
The willingness to say anything to get it.
The seeming lack of any central or core beliefs other than personal advancement.
The chameleonic presentation, with the message ever-so-carefully tailored to the audience of the moment.
I grew up watching and studying Richard M. Nixon and "Nixonology" has been an interest of mine all my adult life. The comparison is far from wholly facetious, though it can be easily overstated.

(23,664 posts)I happened to see it too. The guy was sort of dorky but what he said wasn't over the top. He said there are similarities and goddamnit there are similarities.
He only hinted at the paranoia, but I think that's going to be a recurrent theme because it's sort of self confirming. If you say someone is paranoid and they overreact, they've more or less proven your point.

(2,331 posts)Do you think the vast right wing conspiracy Hillary has spoken of was a figment of her imagination? Or that the press isn't picking up right where they left off in 2000 by focusing on every possible scandal from ones with a degree of legitimate need for scrutiny to ones too absurd for Ionesco, while downplaying or totally ignoring the genuine and numerous wrongdoing of the majority of the republican field. That isn't paranoid, that's having a proper grip on reality.

(12,904 posts)The level of ridiculousness is just too high. They'd probably get better ratings if they showed an episode of Mr. Belvedere.
I might even watch that.

(17,663 posts)how pleased the community to have someone there to listen....and how happy Dr. Anderson, this INCREDIBLE woman who has turned non-accredited school into a hub of complete support system including mental health screening, on site mefical care, pediatrician, etc...and expressed gratitude for Clinton talking about the WHOLE child..the next man is passionately talking to Hillary about what his group is doing....
MSNBC should be ashamed of themselves...
People ARE responding to be listened to and Clinton's actual experience with this sort if thing.
She is the only one plunging in to these areas, as per Howard Fineman. Addressing the broader social structure...actually carrying on from where Obama might have felt constrained...
The panelists are brilliant, committed people who are pouring there hearts out to Hillary!
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,674 posts)Or has she advocated the imposition wage and price controls or re-established the desegregation of Southern schools? Is she promising "peace with honor" in the middle east, and does she have a secret plan to win the "war" with ISIS? Is she going to visit China? Is she also a carbon-based life form?
Seriously, I don't see a lot of similarities. Don't watch those people; they'll just cause ulcers.
