That being said, you can expound on your premise that it should be done because it's fair, yes? I don't predicate my wage making map on the wage of a stock boy or a cashier... why specifically should I?

Even if this were true (which in my experience, it's not), policy doesn't stop normal human behavior - hence discussion WILL happen.

(17,183 posts)"Hard-working Amercans" is one of the most irritating cliches to me in the pack, and worse, it can be a dog-whistle. Not that I expect it is in this case.

I actually don't mind the characterization. It describes the vast majority of our working-class perfectly, imo. Remember, one of the arguments against the wage is that income should be commensurate with productivity.
