Republicans in the Wisconsin State Legislature have killed tenure and shared governance

This, of course, was done at the behest of college dropout Governor Scott Kevin Walker.

Goodbye, University of Wisconsin. It was a hell of a great run.

2. Yup....

And the formerly great UW will be left to hire adjunct "replacements" who can't find employment at any other institution.

3. Please excuse my dullness, but what is shared governance?

I have more than a bit of an interest here. I went to Stevens Point and I still care about UW.

Thanks in advance for further educating me.

4. Shared governance is basically this:

Faculty and students have an official voice in how the University is run (policy, course offerings, standards, admissions, etc). This has now been removed, and ALL authority rests with the Chancellors and Board of Regents, all of whom are appointed by our Governor, one Scott Kevin Walker.
