What if a state with a non-white majority voted...

...that white people were not allowed to walk the streets, own property, drive, visit hospitals, or some other right or privledge?

How'd that go over with the minority whites in that state?

Oooh, how about we find a state with a non white majority and have them hold a popular vote to prevent white people from going to church in public.

How can a majority vote on rights for the minority?

(sorry if I'm rehashing a sentiment that's already been posted today, I had errands to run)

what you are trying to say but a white majority state would not be able to vote to not allow black people to walk the streets etc.
Most states are white majority and I believe none have ever voted on the rights for non-whites.

to vote on the rights/protections of the minority.

I'm just dumbfounded by why some people give a royal shit about who their neighbor happens to want to marry.

when the courts rule that you cannot discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation, I will feel safe. Until then, my rights are subject to the whim of the majority. Not a pleasant way to live
