Transformational Presidents are not afraid to attack contentious social issues

They understand that what many voters are seeking is a leader with a set of core values who is willing to land firmly on one side or the other of a burning question that may divide the country.

Transformational Presidents understand that if they take a strong stand, even those in the electorate who disagree on that specific issue will value the courage and the fortitude of a leader who is willing to forcefully say what he/she believes. This is especially true of independents.

American voters are on a never ending search for authenticity in their politicians. Providing that kind of leadership means tackling "divisive" issues head on, not endlessly dancing around them.

Well said ruggerson. Not only that, it simply leaves the activists on their own. Without strong leadership coming from the top of the tier we are left fighting on our own and having to defend the silence or opposition of our leaders.

Here's what I remember: "We are one people, minus the hippies and other undesirables like confirmed batchelors and maiden aunts, and our time for more of the same has not ended!"
