Huckabee: The Supreme Court ‘Cannot Overrule God’ On Gay Marriage

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R), no stranger to mixing religion and politics, might have outdone himself on Wednesday night when he greeted the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference.

"I do not come to you tonight with the ability to speak Spanish. But I do speak a common language: I speak Jesus," he said, according to CNN.

Huckabee addressed the Supreme Court, which this week listened to oral arguments in its highly anticipated hearings on gay marriage. "I respect the courts, but the Supreme Court is only that — the supreme of the courts. It is not the supreme being. It cannot overrule God," he reportedly told the audience. "When it comes to prayer, when it comes to life, and when it comes to the sanctity of marriage, the court cannot change what God has created," Huckabee added.

A favorite of the Christian conservative crowd, Huckabee also brought up the political skirmishes on recent "religious freedom" laws in Indiana and Arkansas, saying that Christianity is becoming "criminalized." The ex-governor added that someone must be ready to take on the institutions that "challenge and threaten our ability to believe as we believe."

I expect a 5-4 decision in favor of God.

(The other 4 don't live in this century.)

Someone should ask him during the primaries what's the difference between a gay-marriage and eating pork. After all, both are forbidden.

And why gays are outlawed in the Bible but raping slaves is okay.

That's how I know there's no such thing as God. If there were, he'd strike these arrogant assholes down for presuming to speak for him.

The Bible changed over time due to translation 'drift' if not actually additions, deletions.

More importantly, Jesus appointed Peter to 'manage' the church. Essentially giving man the clerical duties of running the operation. Man and his outlook and needs change over time.

God gave us the 'keys' and the control. Things have changed significantly since the first century. Pretty sure you, never-will-be-president Huckabee, would have ended up staked and rotting in the sun, if not for Man's evolution.

Other than a Christian, Jewish or other religious faith blessing it with a ceremony. Blessings do not hold the force of law. Just ask any divorce attorney.

are partly accountable for his continued invective, as they never bothered to speak out against him over the last couple of decades. When Huckabee first called for isolation camps for HIV patients and 'at risk' populations in 1992, Republicans lent him legitimacy by not calling him out.

I seriously wonder what goes on in the mind of a hardcore religious fundamentalist like Mike Huckabee to the point where they constantly obsess over what people do in the bedroom, where their rage takes over and just consumes them. These people are just rage obsessed lunatics who actually are trying to take away our freedom. It's madness, true madness. I really hope that the Supreme Court rules in favor of the Constitution and not of the Bible.
