Rand Paul: Baltimore Violence Is About 'Lack Of Fathers' And Morals

Presidential candidate Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) weighed in on the turmoil in Baltimore on Tuesday, standing with police and blaming the violence on a lack of morals in America.

"I came through the train on Baltimore (sic) last night, I'm glad the train didn't stop," he said, laughing, during an interview with conservative radio host Laura Ingraham.

Railing against what he repeatedly called "thuggery and thievery" in the streets of Baltimore, Paul told Ingraham that talking about "root causes" was not appropriate in the middle of a riot.

"The police have to do what they have to do, and I am very sympathetic to the plight of the police in this," he said.

As far as root causes, Paul listed some ideas of his own.

"There are so many things we can talk about," the senator said, "the breakdown of the family structure, the lack of fathers, the lack of a moral code in our society."

He added that "this isn't just a racial thing

So it has nothing to do with the deaths of unarmed black people at the hands of police?

What a clown.

Doesn't this remind you of the remarks Cliven Bundy made about visiting North Las Vegas and seeing how black people lived? I hope we do not elect a president who is no smarter than Cliven Bundy.

William Paul, the 22-year-old son of Republican presidential candidate and Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, was issued a citation over the weekend for driving while under the influence of alcohol, according to a report from local NBC affiliate LEX 18.

Police say that Paul smelled of alcohol and had “bloodshot, watery eyes.” The citation also said that William Paul was behaving in a “belligerent” manner and had slurred speech.

A witness told police that she had spotted William Paul sitting at the intersection of Woodland Ave and Old Vine revving the engine of his car. A few minutes later that same witness heard a loud crash.

The vehicle Paul was in was not his and there was no insurance on the vehicle. William was by himself in the car, and no one was in the parked car that he allegedly struck.

That was his second DUI incident. If, according to Paul, Hillary shouldn't run for president because her husband cheated on her. Then Paul shouldn't run for president because his son has an alcohol problem.

Not the I blame the kid. Having a self righteous, moralizing jerk for a father must be tough.
