9. The picture touches my heart. I don't recall
seeing Bush I or II ever show such humanity...I remember
junior standing on the rubble of the World Trade Centers, posing on the aircraft carrier, trying to leave through a locked door somewhere in the Far East, slapping Angela Merkel on the back, looking behind curtains for terrorists, etc.... but nothing anywhere close to what's depicted here. Thanks for posting...does my heart good to see this. edits: spelling....guess that big thunder storm rattled me! There go the sirens again. |

39. No, George MASSAGED Angela Merkel on the back.
One would think that the grandson of a senator, son of a veep then president, would have picked up the basics of diplomatic protocol.

11. When I look at the picture, I see emotion in that hug from both the President & that woman. Then
I try to envision Romney doing the same thing, and I can't.
I have seen pics like this of Biden giving a woman in tears an emotional hug. I can envision Clinton (no jokes), but I can't envision Romney or W or Cheney or any repug giving an everyday citizen a hug with feeling - can you? |

12. I am right there with you on this, jillan.
I can't imagine any Republican showing so much love to any everyday citizen either.
They can't do it because they don't have that love inside. |

13. That is absolutely beautiful, CaliforniaPeggy !
So much compassion shown there. I think back on another President posing in front a "Mission Accomplished" banner aboard a ship, sending more to get maimed and die for no reason. That made my blood boil. I really don't want to hate anyone but I find it hard not to hate Bush for starting a very useless war costing thousands of lives, leaving young people disabled - for what?
Obama connects with people in a way Bush never could. All the Limbaughs, Hannitys and Fox News in the world can't change that fact. |

I'm not sure what compassion means when a republican uses the word, but this great man models the real thing.

and I believe his grandparents helped to raise him as well.

36. Thank you.
It seems like a lot of my friends have drunk the RP kookaid. I've been called a hypocrite, deranged, a fool, a baby killer, and worse. So weird. I shudder to think what could happen if he were to get elected, which fortunately isn't at all likely.
Thank you, CaliforniaPeggy. You are always so kind. That is very appreciated. |

You could call your new syndrome "ROIDS".
