Major French TV channel knocked off the air by ISIS - website severely hacked.

France’s TV5Monde targeted in 'IS group cyberattack'

French television network TV5Monde said Wednesday it had been hacked by individuals claiming to belong to the Islamic State group, who brought television broadcasts to a halt and hijacked its websites and social networks.

The Paris-based company was able to partially resume television broadcasts by 1:00 am (2300 GMT) after a three-hour blackout, the network's director-general Yves Bigot told AFP, but added its systems had been "severely damaged" by an "unprecedented attack".

The hackers posted documents on TV5Monde's Facebook page purporting to be the identity cards and CVs of relatives of French soldiers involved in anti-IS operations, along with threats against the troops.

"Soldiers of France, stay away from the Islamic State! You have the chance to save your families, take advantage of it," read one message on TV5Monde's Facebook page. "The CyberCaliphate continues its cyberjihad against the enemies of Islamic State," the message added.

JE SUIS ISIS - I AM ISIS, and CYBERCALIFATE, that's what these nefarious bastards hacked onto the France TV5 webpage.

And, France TV5 was indeed off air yesterday evening. I often watch them for good docs.

ISIS has obviously got some tech savvy people working with them.

NOT GOOD.

western 'civilization'.

Are you you kidding?

Do the French have cyber-teams to fight this? They're swarming the HQ of France TV5, as we speak.

Obama has, for good reason, put cyber-terrorism at the top of the list of threats to the West.

version too, but don't know if it's like the American version, which is why I asked, not need to take offense. It's hated at DU right now and it's ben posted a while back that EU nations didn't do the same as our agencies. I didn't comment to insult or have a fight, but that's pretty much been the case since yesterday. Looks like the warm glow from the Iran deal has worn off and we're back to the same shit different day here. EOM.

that I do have a bit different perspective, as a resident of France.

And, some people's anti-European bias (or rest of the world, for that matter) and 'Murca N°1 attitude around here sometimes gets my dander up.

PEACE BROTHER/SISTER!

the laws that we fuss about here. I am a huge fan of all things European and not arrogant at all. I also don't have a knee jerk attitude to blame Obama and the USA for everything.

I post here to learn and I was very tired when I asked that question, thinking only in terms of the bruahaha I was just reading before I got here over survelliance of the proper kind. We have not been able to come to consensus on DU about it, as some think none at all is the answer. I'd just come off threads where that was the case made.

I read some EU nations forbade the kind of data collection we have here. But there is a reason for any nation to keep some and this is proof of it. American sites have been hacked, including govetrnment ones. France is under cyberattack because they have refused to back down.

I'm going to delete the post becauase it's being made out to be other than it is. I don't need this kind of emotional turmoil about people who don't know me and go on the attack. Not talking about you. Have a good day or evening as the case may be. I'm on Pacific time and am only getting a couple of hours of sleep a day. I need a break from this place, it's not healthy.

Do you think France is a backwater operation ? Its not. Obviously there are cyber experts in France. Typical american attitude who thinks every country outside of the US lives in the middle ages.
