The time the White House trolled Benjamin Netanyahu so hard
By Colby Itkowitz
Several years ago, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu famously used a cartoon bomb to illustrate where hed draw a red line on Iran developing a nuclear weapon.
So it wasnt lost on anyone who the White House was poking when it tweeted its own version of a cartoon bomb to tout its recent nuclear deal with Iran.
The White House (@WhiteHouse) April 8, 2015
Netanyahu has slammed the framework as not going far enough to keep Iran from developing nukes. The issue has only further strained relations between the Israeli government and the Obama administration, with neither side being subtle about their displeasure with the other.
This in-your-face cartoon bomb trolling is just another example of the two sides needling each other. Your move, Bibi?.

(2,807 posts)piece of shit. He deserves far worse than this harmless goading. His goal is not just to push the Palestinians out of "Israel" but to enlarge Israel far more than just Palestine. He is the problem.
They are no friend of the US. They are nothing but a burr under our saddle.

(30,439 posts)A Simple Game
(9,214 posts)a country that carried out a sustained air and sea attack on one of our navel ships killing or wounding much of the crew with shells and bombs that included napalm. They would probably have killed everyone on the ship but apparently their torpedo boats weren't very good at their jobs. They were so embarrassed for the attack that they even apologized and told us to keep 3 million dollars of our aid as restitution.
I was a very impressionable 17 years old when this happened and will never forget or forgive Israel for this attack on a clearly marked US ship in international waters. Nor do I think their "don't get in our way" attitude has changed significantly since then.

(9,214 posts)Sounds like you are the one emulating freedom fry Republicans by placing your support for Israel above the US led nuclear deal with Iran.
Do I know what I'm talking about? I have Schumer for a Senator so I know about Democrats putting other countries before America.

(9,753 posts)I take a back seat to no one in my disdain for Netanyahu and the political parties (and voters!) who support him. They are straining the alliance between the US and Israel to the breaking point.
However, a SNAFU during war nearly 20 years ago doesn't even enter the equation. You do realize that the US has accidentally shot down at least one civilian airliner in the last quarter century, and killed more of our own troops with 'friendly fire' screwups than are every publicly admitted?
A Simple Game
(9,214 posts)The Israelis didn't want a spy ship checking on them when they were committing war crimes. That is why they fired upon the ship and they knew very well what that ship was. They had watched that "mistake" for over 8 hours before firing on it and couldn't see the flag that was flying on it? The said it was in retaliation for a ship shelling the coast but they couldn't see the ship had no guns for coastal shelling? They said they issued a warning to all ships but in reality the warning didn't come until after the attack. Please study the incident.
As for our crimes, war and otherwise, I condemn them too. What we did to Libya among others is coming home to roost isn't it? Yet we kiss Saudi butt when it is well known they are financing much of the terrorism. It's also well known that we have destroyed at least two of our own ships to justify going to war.
So should we forget about the holocaust too? Those that forget history tend to repeat it. The history of Israel since WWII has been nothing but a series of blunders starting with it's inception. We now have more to fear from Israel than we do Iran. The dog we feed is nipping at our hand a lot lately, and is going to bite us again it's just a matter of time. But I bet we will go right back and stick our hand in it's mouth again.
Me? I'll give credit where it's deserved and stick with the White House on this one.
MrModerate
(9,753 posts)And your attribution of motive unproven. I've read several versions of the story (notwithstanding getting the year it took place wrong), and the majority opinion is that it was a major screwup.
I'd also say that comparing this event to the holocaust is wildly out of line and even somewhat offensive.
With regard to "destroyed at least two of our own ships," which were those? (And if you tell me that one of them was the Maine, then I'm going to have to make a twirling gesture with my forefinger in the vicinity of my temple -- while executing an up-left eyeroll -- because we will then officially have boarded the train to Tinfoil Hat Junction.)

I'd just like to know what you find "embarrassing" about a poster that shows very simply and directly what the difference is between the status quo compared to after this new deal. Because they used the same imagery to prove their point? My my...how dare they! its so rude!

(81,100 posts)Stabbing the President in the back, weaseling around behind the State Department's back? Collaborating thisclose with the President's political opposition? This is how you treat a friend? Especially the friend who's been trying to turn the heat down in your immediate neighborhood - where YOU live and have to survive. Something that would benefit the entire region where you live - especially YOU.

(22,000 posts)Israel has done everything they can to undermine President Obama and the negotiations with Iran. If they were an ally they would stand with us and respectfully voice their disagreements. Yet we keep giving them money hand over fist and they stab us in the back. Well if they can't take a little mocking of a drawing they made that represents the facts of the framework between the six countries and Iran, then maybe they need to get off the world stage.
