Religious Right people are freaking out.

I keep reading at "Right Wing Watch" how these Religious Right "spokespeople" are freaking out about the Indiana law backlash, the Arkansas law changing, and so on.

Yet every year, and I do mean EVERY year, someone from that crowd is caught in a sex and/or money scandal.

"Teh gays iz comin', teh gays iz comin', they gonna recruit our chillll-dren!"

They can't control. They are getting gun regulations and easy laws for guns (open carry and others). Abortion restriction laws are going their way. Voting laws in some way are going their direction. They are losing gay marriage and are having a fit.

if they can't control it all. Besides, I think the RWNJ cohort has so many hypocrites who are closeted gays and offenders of other sorts that they will stop at nothing to avoid exposure because you know embarrassment is like a public hanging that can't be experienced by the "godly" likes of themselves.

A new descriptive phrase:

Temper Tantrums "R" Us.

Some of the leaders are obviously self-loathing closet cases (Tony Perkins from the Family Research Council), but not all of them ... why do they care so much that two humans love each other, or, hell, just want to have sex with each other? I'll never understand it.

in their closed-minded, ever-evolving reinterpretation of the so-called sacred texts. Religions (the organized kind) are a form of tribalism that are developed to ensure population manipulation via fear and guilt.

A friend who lived around the world for decades once told me, "If you want to gain control over a large population in a short time, start a religion."

I find those words to ring true in the vast majority of cases of organized religion and the "rules" they establish for followers. And religious rules don't even require written form since the deity is invisible anyway... it's all human constructed, every bit of whatever they tell you.

Religion (particularly the odious Big Three Abrahamaic religions) were made up to allow a particular group of people to have power over, repress, exploit, and/or profit from another group of people. Women and gay people have been their biggest victims over the centuries.

But still ... it's so weird that in this modern age that people can still be whipped into a lather of hate (in some cases repressed lust) by the mere thought of The Gays.

I am so disgusted at how the majority of "believers" can't think this out for themselves without the church's "guidance". This country and much of the world would be so much more pleasant without this psychosis.

This planet would have been so much better off if these three monotheisms had never been made up. But too late now.

Christianity has had it's way with influencing various societies for about 1500 years now.

They are finally getting some pushback and they don't like it, not one little bit.

I wrote something to this effect on another thread a few days ago;

We all get that you feel threatened and that your influence is not as strong as it has been for a few centuries now. No one is trying to stop you from worshipping or trying to close your churches or anything else.

We just want you to stop being such pushy assholes about the whole thing.

If your religion teaches you that you are on the verge of going to hell for every damn thing you do or even think, and that everybody else is even more damned and evil than you are, and that God is a malign being who's just waiting for some little slip-up as an excuse to throw you into the flaming pit (even though he actually loves you), of course you are going to be freaking out all the time. Demons are everywhere, trying to make people sin and destroy America, which is God's chosen country. They could be in the form of Communists, hippies, feminists, Muslims, atheists, rappers, or gay people. Pick your freakout. I'm surprised Pat Robertson hasn't had a hate-stroke yet.

will keep sending them money.

They've been doing this for years and it's astonishing that after so many cases of their rhetoric turning out to be sky is falling bullshit, they're still able to squeeze big bucks out of the dum dums.

Only in America...
