Sneaky, now he can shoot his mouth off about how tolerant he is and how he wants it fixed and how he son told him to veto it, blah blah. He knows the bigots in the legislature won't change it.

(42,585 posts)The religious freedom legislation in arkansas is HB 1228. It passed the legislature on March 31. Assuming it was received in the Governor's office that day, it will become law either when it is signed by the governor or if he doesn't sign it, upon the expiration of the five day period (excluding Sundays) for the Governor to veto the law. That's next Monday, not this Monday.
The Post column mixes up the religious freedom law with an Arkansas law that, in the name of "uniformity" prevents local jurisdictions from enacting their own anti-discrimination laws that expand the classes of protected citizens. That bill is SB 202. It was passed on February 17 and became law on February 25. SB202 obviously also is an anti-gay measure but its not the one that everyone (including the governor) is currently discussing .
