The religious it telling the US that it will not accept LGBT rights ever. They they will fight to the death to stop and reverse gay rights and gay marriage. The want RFRA laws in every state controlled by the GOP. With 2/3rds of the state legislatures controlled by the GOP RFRA laws will proliferate.
And RFRA laws go beyond just LGBT rights. They are likely to effect many other areas of religious discrimination as well. All you have to do is carry out the logic about where else the right wing religious community might strike.
RFRA is about shredding every fabric of our society over religious beliefs. And they are not joking about theocratic dictatorship. And the religious right believes that rights only belong to them. Just remember the meme on hate radio. Rights are for Christians in a Christian nation. And they dare anyone to go against them because religious rights are protected.
LGBT rights are a line in the sand. And in their view gay marriage will NOT stand no matter what the courts say. And they fully expect SCOTUS to be on their side.
