The drive to rename a famous rainbow-painted tunnel in honor of Robin Williams has cleared another bureaucratic speed bump.

The legislative plan to rename the so-called Waldo Tunnel just north of San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge passed unanimously through the transportation committee of the California State Assembly last week on a 16-0 vote.

The resolution was introduced in December by Assembly Member Marc Levine of San Rafael in response to an online petition with more than 60,000 supporters.

"Robin Williams always wore those rainbow suspenders as Mork," she said, referring to Williams' iconic character on the hit 70s sitcom "Mork & Mindy," and "he did a famous comedy routine about going through the tunnel."

More.
