Taraji P. Henson Won't Send Son to USC Due to Alleged Racial Profiling

Nobody messes with Cookie's sons, or Taraji P. Henson's in real life.

Henson’s son won’t be joining the impressive list of celebrity kids (Patrick Schwarzenegger, Greer Grammer and Rob Kardashian) who attended the University of Southern California. In an interview with Uptown magazine, the Empire star revealed that she won’t be transferring her 20-year-old son Marcel to the university after he was allegedly racially profiled near the campus.

"Police stopped him for having his hands in his pockets,” Henson explained.

This isn’t the first time Henson has expressed that the cops have illegally stopped her son.

"My child has been racially profiled. He was in Glendale, California and did exactly everything the cops told him to do, including letting them illegally search his car,” said Henson. “It was bogus because they didn’t give him the ticket for what he was pulled over for.”

Henson said that due to her son’s experiences, she’s decided to send him to Howard University, a historically black college and, coincidentally, her own alma mater where she studied theater. She originally chose to pursue electrical engineering at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University

I bolded that part for a reason.

My son is part Puerto Rican. One time when he was coming home from the gym he was pulled over. I know why he was pulled over--he was driving a car with rims, tinted window, and the music was up. It was summer so the window was down. He is very ethnic looking in the summer cuz he gets so dark. He was about 17.

The cop told him he was pulled over because the little light over the license plate was out (it was still daylight out ) they asked him to get out of the car took his license and asked if they could search the car. He let them--when I asked him later why he let them he said he thought he had to cuz one of the cops was being kind of a dick and he was very uncomfortable.

I was so pissed.

He has a Hispanic last name so there have been other things that have happened. But certainly not to the degree that African Americans live with. As a mother I just couldn't imagine. Though, I do remember my mom & dad talking to my brothers after an incident happened to my dad at work.
