I keep hearing about brackets on the news. As a former home improvement writer, I like reinforced brackets for most uses. These are stronger than plain ones and will support more weight. Look for brackets like these when you're mounting shelves:

Even places like Home Depot have many options. Choosing your brackets carefully is important, to prevent future disasters.
