Do the Republicans think we're stupid?

If the Supreme Court rules that the federal subsidies are unconstitutional the tax credits the Republicans would offer in lieu of them would not be nearly large enough to replace them because a lot of working class folks end up with no net tax liabilities at all...

3. I think that

their intellectual capacity (if you can even call it that) doesn't allow for anyone to be smarter than they are. This would indicate that to them everyone is maxed out on intellect at some location to the left of zero on a number line used to measure such things without realizing that they are stick there and that a vast majority of the human population is elsewhere.

That would also imply that they haven't the capacity to recognize that everyone else is inherently smarter, they just can't comprehend that most of us are not on their extremely low level of cognitive function.

4. Yes.

Simple answers to simple questions.

Sadly, far too many people actually are, and thus Republicans keep getting voted into office.

6. You can not insure everybody without some redistribution of wealth.

You can not put a round peg in a square hole. This is why we have the Affordable Care Act in the first place.

7. Hell, they think they are, too.

Their geniuses know, however, that taking down The president's biggest achievement as unconstitutional is worth a lot of dumbass votes, particularly so the sooner they get it done--before more people realize how vital the ACA is.

Anyway, they'll certainly blame the fallout--millions of people losing coverage--on Obama and the Democrats, and this effort will meet with great success. The Supreme Court, if it dares to go so far, will keep GOP fingerprints off the results.

13. I need to make sure I'm not missing anything...

Beside the EITC or negative income tax how can you offer tax credits to those without tax liabilities?

17. Yes, but the good news is they are more stupid.

Let's say the SCOTUS abandons centuries of precedent and rules against the subsidies.

That kills the insurance market.....in red states. The blue states set up their own exchanges, and would keep the subsidies.

That doesn't leave a very good choice for the red states. Already, the economic benefits are pushing some more red states to figure out how to expand medicaid. This decision would put a lot more pressure on state governments to actually adopt "Obamacare".

18. That's a great point...

"More tears are shed over answered prayers than unanswered ones."

I believe the "smart" Republicans would rather have the ACA as an issue than have to deal with what would replace it now that millions are reaping the benefits.

At its core it's a redistributionist program and if you remove that feature it unravels.

19. Actually, quite often, we are pretty damned stupid.

it's one of the things I'm watching regarding artificial intelligence. If it is programmed and taught by humans, I wonder if it can get to stupid faster than we can, which would be an amazing accomplishment. Because we humans can get to stupid pretty damned fast.

Reasons that the Republicans might think we're stupid. A Syrian Policy that was drafted on the fly. The policy of bombing them into the stone age was replaced a year later by a policy of ignoring the Syrians and instead focusing on bombing ISIS/ISIL/IS. We're not sure who we like in Syria, but the groups we dislike the most is usually up for grabs.

The 2014 campaign in which our party had as our single campaign issue, the War on Women. A phrase that was so overused that even our supporters thought it was sickening and stupid. Of course, we know that the entire campaign strategy revolved around some Republican making a mistake and giving us a Real Rape quote we could use nationally, but unfortunately they were apparently smarter than we were, and won.

I could go on, and on, and on about the stupid mistakes we tend to make over, and over again. So the Republicans thinking we're stupid is not without cause, or precedent. I mean, if Democrats were willing to learn from those mistakes, and strive to keep from making them anymore, that would be one thing. But we seem determined to refrain from learning anything from our failures.

How about the legislation that Wendy Davis became famous for opposing. You remember, the Doctor and Clinic requirements that the Republicans said was going to improve safety and the health of the patient? We reverted to form and started shouting that it was a violation of women's rights. We didn't bother arguing the legislation, or the implications. We didn't point out that a Trauma Surgeon from Dallas could not treat accident victims in a mass casualty situation in Houston since he did not have admitting rights in Houston. We didn't point out that an Oral Surgeon never has admitting rights at a hospital. If something goes wrong they are limited to calling 911 and getting you to a Hospital. Oh they may give your heart the jump start, but that's about all.

So what is your metric to determine that we aren't stupid? We got our asses kicked by Joni Ernst. If you need more proof, what Democrat is out there pointing out that the tax credits won't help people who don't pay any income tax because they're too poor? Hey man what's that sound whole lotta crickets chirping round.

22. However the GOP base is that stupid and hateful

First off suspend all reality, they truly believe that Obamacare is free for non-whites and the undocumented; the rates are high, to them, because their coverage also includes birth control and specific coverage for lady parts that they can’t use and they, the god fearing, ignorant, racist and bigoted, GOP middle class white base think they are the ONLY ones paying for it all.

Never mind they have zero understanding of how ALL insurance works in the first place.

If the GOP win this the GOP base will cheer about how they stuck it too the Liberals and the black guy until they get their insurance cancellations and rate increases.

I think it will actually take their family, friends and neighbors dying from lack of heath care and or going into bankruptcy because of medical bills before they wake the F up and even then few will.
