"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired = theft from those who hunger"

THE LATEST REPUBLICAN PLAN to reconcile the budget and preserve defense spending extracts even deeper cuts from programs to help the poor and Americans still reeling from the recession. Although spending levels for the budget were set in the Budget Control Act passed last summer in the deal to raise the nation’s debt limit, Republicans are pushing ahead with another plan that cuts more while trying to prevent the beginning of $600 billion in cuts over 10 years to the growth of the defense budget.

Today, if he were still around, Ike would have been branded a traitor by the Teashitters and swiftboated as a coward.

We now have members of our party that wouldn't even dare to speak such words.

Sickening.

But food production and distribution occur independently from weapons production, and both occur independently from the printing of money.

People (at least outside of "total war&quot don't stop producing food so they can make bullets or whatever else, so the production of one doesn't impact the production of the other. What you are left with is the problem of the value of people and labor and money itself - if there is plenty of food, why should anyone be hungry?

Eisenhower was a decent man who loved and served his country with distinction. He was a military hero who appreciated democracy and advanced the society, while the Reagan crew used the poor to divide the country and begin the great take over by the TPARTY-One Party rule, under Corporations, divided and unequal with liberty and justice for the rich.
