Even Republicans Tire of Repealing Obamacare

“It is unfair to say Republicans have achieved nothing in their dozens of attempts since 2010 to repeal Obamacare,” Dana Millbank writes.

“In Tuesday’s repeal effort by House Republicans — their first of this Congress and their 56th overall — it became clear that they had succeeded at one thing: They had bored even themselves into a slumber. For much of the debate Tuesday afternoon, no more than a dozen seats were occupied on the pro-repeal side of the House. More than once, the GOP had nobody available to speak.”

1. Where is their replacement plan? Perhaps they could use Hillary' s plan, the ACA was based on

Romney and Heritage Foundation so the GOP complains it is flawed so maybe Hillary's is better and the GOP can take credit fr it. I really don't care who takes credit, we need the health care.

2. It was a plan in direct opposition to Hillary's plan.

They were fighting Hillary tooth and nail in 1993 and decided they had to come up with an alternative to hers. She had Business being responsible for everyone's health care insurance and Republicans wanted the responsibility to be on the individual. That is how they came up with the individual "mandate". Now that is their number one reason they oppose it..

9. They don't have a plan.

They don't want a plan. The only 'plan' is to keep their base voting just a little more, 'just one more time, just a couple more seats and we can do it!'.

They're not going to do it. They could have majorities in both sides of congress, and the white house, they're not going to repeal that law. They're con artists. They're not suicidal.

10. Yes they are playing to their "base" but I think there are a lot of their myths

Debunk by now. They are trying to destroy the DNC, won't happen. Put us on their plan, it works well for them.

6. They were all busy on their current six (6) year quest to find a replacement? Kind of hard to

find a replacement for your own fucking idea.

Maybe they have a draft?

7. this is a waste and insult to government resources

just like court costs are expensed for improper lawsuits, the repugs should be fined the cost of keeping the sessions open.

8. It's because they're liars. Stone cold liars. You know why?

Because they don't DARE actually repeal it. They don't fucking DARE. Arguably, they never wanted to. It was always kabuki theatre for their base. They just want people to think they are trying. They don't want to actually succeed.

Just like they never pass PayGo. They talk about it. They talk a good game. When they had the house, senate, and white house in the early 2000's? They didn't even bring it up, because they might have been able to actually pass it, and what then? They'd be fucked.

And they know it.

Their whole party is a fucking sham.

11. I agree. It's like their supposed quest to overturn Roe v. Wade.

As long as Roe v. Wade is in place, they can fundraise off their opposition to "the slaughter of unborn babies."

If SCOTUS (currently with a conservative majority of five Justices appointed by Republican Presidents) ever actually did overrule Roe v. Wade, then each state legislature could choose what to do. The supporters of reproductive rights, who now have a tendency to be somewhat complacent, would be out in force. (I know, they should be out in force anyway, what with the spread of targeted restrictions on abortion providers, but an outright overruling of Roe v. Wade would galvanize many more of them.)

They just want people to think they are trying. They don't want to actually succeed.

Exactly their approach to abortion, too.
