George Zimmerman won't be charged in wine bottle DV case
George Zimmerman won't be prosecuted for allegedly throwing a wine bottle at his girlfriend, the State Attorney's Office said today.
Zimmerman, 31, was arrested Jan. 9, accused by Lake Mary police of aggravated-assault.
But this morning the State Attorney's Office reported that the woman, 28-year-old Brittany Brunelle, Zimmerman's dental hygienist, recanted her story and refused to cooperate. As a consequence, it is dropping the case.
George Zimmerman won't be charged in wine bottle assault
The State Attorney's Office won't prosecute George Zimmerman for allegedly throwing a wine bottle at his girlfriend.
This is the second time in just over a year that Zimmerman has been arrested, accused of becoming violent when a girlfriend breaks up with him. In both cases, the woman changed her account, stopped cooperating, and prosecutors closed the case without filing charges.

(46,684 posts)Yes. In Central Florida I have noticed architects moving in to shut down dissent or criticism where they don't want people organizing to spread information that might challenge the status quo. It is usually done discretely and falls under the category of a normal business offering. In other words, it won't come in the way of straight cash offering. It would be more along the lines of how Zimmerman puked on a canvas and got $100000 for it on Ebay. Plausible deniability, always.
Look for a new job change for her or one of her family members.

Calling the police at the height of a situation vs. thinking about the repercussions of dealing with a violent man in the aftermath are two different things.
Yes, yes... we know that they willingly got involved with him.

(27,677 posts)Most likely just plain old witness intimidation...
While the decision to drop charges means a court will, once again, never decide whether Zimmerman is guilty of domestic abuse, the patterns of Zimmerman and his accusers fall in line with the typical behavior of domestic violence victims. Whether they feel intimidated by their abusers or pressured by loved ones, many victims of domestic violence choose not to press charges. Perpetrators, meanwhile, often move from one victim to the next. A 2000 study found that 41 percent of abusers re-abuse their victim within a 30-month follow-up period, and another study found that almost half of people who had been arrested for violating a restraining order had two or more victims within six years. They also try to justify or minimize the extent of their behavior, as Zimmerman has done when he accused his girlfriend of going crazy and breaking a table in the apartment, in what experts call minimization, denial and blaming.

(46,684 posts)These are young women who are being affected and it wouldn't take much. Around here, young bloods just have to stand firm and give them a dirty look to send a message. Or autocratic male types could look at them and give them a disapproving stare. Or good ole gals will shower them with shame and condemnation.
But I would bet on the tried and true method in Central Florida, which is to offer an inducement to make people whole again because positive reinforcement is more effective at silencing people.
