Let me explain:
1. use a Democratic President (Clinton) to help create a casino economy
2. Democratic President takes credit for fast growing economy
3. Under Republican President, declare war on the middle and lower classes to redistribute wealth "UP"
4. Double down in the casino
5. Great Recession, middle class shrinks
6. use a Democratic President (Obama) to bailout Wall Street and banksters, nothing for middle class
7. 1% gets incomprehensibly richer
8. Trickle Down!!!!! 4 years later, jobs start to "TRICKLE DOWN" to the middle class
9. Democrats rejoice! The Democratic President, Obama, brought back jobs...using trickle down economics
*EDIT:
Part I: Trickle Down Economics is (2) Under Republican President, declare war on the middle and lower classes to redistribute wealth "UP".
Part II: Trickle Down Economics is (9) The middle class Democratic voter rejoices and all praise goes to Obama for bringing jobs back via trickle down economics.
It's a total mind-fuck and succeeds at erasing 2008-2009 from a Democrat's memory. Bailouts of WS and banksters on the backs of the middle class, the increasing market concentration of multi-national corporations and financial institutions...poof! GONE!! It was all a movement of trillions of dollars to the 1% and 0.5% and 0.25% on the backs of the middle class Democrat and Republican.

Other than that...

(5,252 posts)You just got duped into believing President Obama's policies brought back the "trickle down" of jobs, when President Obama is merely a champion of trickle down economics.
The GOP-Obama trickle down policies completely erased 2008-2009 from your memory.
Yes, you've been thoroughly mind-fucked by the GOP and Obama.

(60,992 posts)I'm not sure when I've been called an idiot in public so suavely before.
I have no delusions about President Obama. He is far too center right, especially on economic issues.
Mind-fucked? Send your hyperbolic bullshit elsewhere, we're all booked up here.
WhaTHellsgoingonhere
(5,252 posts)I'll consider putting that in the OP.
Wounded Bear
(60,992 posts)not 'mind fucked.' At least the politicians were.

aside: I almost never expect a conversation when I come here. I assume the first responders are out to attack. Sorry

(23,730 posts)you can't say any more that "you can't criticize the system, it pays for your house": the middle class has been rolled back to 1928 and the wealth-distribution system of the 40s-70s boom scrapped in favor of 90% to the 1% and 10% to the 9%--to the financialized class and to the rentier class, IOW, the latter giving the appearance of a continuing middle class
it gets people identifying with the rich far more than even when Steinbeck observed Americans all though they were temporarily-inconvenienced millionaires: with Reagan's rhetoric it became "not fair" to tax the rich; the people who'd been treated as insane punchlines, far-right SF writers, and Pinochet's handmaidens were all put in charge of the levers of economy and basically dismantled it

(5,364 posts)I meant to mention so before I posted.
Populist_Prole
(5,364 posts)Over the years I've heard so many buy into it mostly because they are not well read and sell themselves short and consider economists as sort of "smart people who know what they're talking about". They never connect the dots at how economics are politicized and how the economic sword being deliberately wielded against them.
They want to believe it works, and don't really want to bother to think critically, especially if it depresses them; preferring the ambiguity of their "bread & circus" existence.
Then there are the poor and working class conservatives I know. They're "for" trickle down, not because they've thought it through, but because it's a major platform of their "team"...and they are very very much tribalistic team players for the GOP. Makes them feel like stoic "working class heroes" that "pull themselves up by their bootstraps". If they continue to get shit on, economically; they write that off to the price paid to maintain flag-waving pride and "god & guns", and anyway, it's mostly the fault of "those people" ( dog whistle ).
The last paragraph above is a very strong dynamic I've noticed, since the late 80's among peers, coworkers, friends, acquaintances, and some family.
