There are so many other ways that kid could have paid his debt to society. A little jail time with a fine, extensive counseling, sentencing him to lots of community service and finding him a real paying job would have gone a long way toward helping him restart his life on the right path to becoming a productive member of society.

They could have helped him get on his feet with a start toward a decent, meaningful life. Instead, he's likely doomed to a life of crime, bitterness and failure as a pawn of the for-profit prison system. Like the Hotel California, once in, you can never leave.

He was only 17. Depressing.

61. I think we've messed up DU

because in replying, my text is now supersized, even without the brackets!

But, when using any bbcode you have to start and end the code with the square brackets. Start with the one that's nearest the 'P' on the keyboard, and end with the one that's nearest the 'backslash'. Now, you've "closed" the code and can post your text to be enlarged. The "/font" phrase also must be enclosed in the brackets or it won't work.

Now to figure out how to reduce my viewing text

you don't need to put it all on separate lines. I'll use the other brackets you get when you do a shift-bracket keystroke, so you can see
