http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/12/22/mitt-romney-money_n_1165595.htmlRomney staffers are scrambling to come up with reasons why Romney has decided not to release his tax returns. One of the better ones I heard was that the information would 'confuse' voters. Right?..... Yeah, that's the ticket!
I think there is no way he can hide the fact that he paid a lower tax rate than the people he hired to work for him. In fact it is rumored that the vastness of his wealth has resulted in him only paying a 15% capital gains tax.
Too bad Romney is 'unemployed' and that his family spent time in a small house last year (that is $4mil home) per his son.
I think the average voter will find little in common with Mitt, and it is only a matter of time before he is forced to release his tax returns if he wants to be President of the US.

(14,274 posts)Boy, it might be embarrassing if the 99% thought he was in the 1% and obviously callous and tone deaf to their needs.

(36,974 posts)Aren't the GOPers and TeaParty hollering for him to release:
1) Tax returns going all the way back to his first job
2) College, high school, grade school records
3) Kindergarten drawing, so folks can see what was on his mind at the time
4) Short, medium, and long form birth certificate
5) A urine sample
6) A DNA analysis
7) A copy of a list of all books he has ever checked out of the library
8) Every medical record that exists on the face of the planet
9) Etc ....
I'm sure that the GOPers will be asking for most of those things on the list from Obama in the up coming year

(82,849 posts)And if Romney knows what's good for him, he'll keep those tax returns away from the public eye. Hedge fund managers and other leeches who are paying the lower tax rate like their sweet deal, and aren't about to give it up just because Romney wants to get clobbered in 2012. Romney goes public and reminds people about that low, low tax rate, and it just might go bye-bye.

(662 posts)He will have to release them, but it won't be til after the Primary. Doesn't want to give the weebles more to attack him on. In the mean time, the accountants are preping and reviewing the returns to make sure all is in order and that what is revealed doesn't TRIP an audit. After all, with all that money. IRS may be curious.

(4,438 posts)at they have first? Because that is a bogus institution, also, created to get money out of the poor and middle class while the wealthy pay little to nothing, stashing their $$$$$ in offshore banks, with no questions asked. They can afford the lawyers who can tell them every way possible to avoid paying their fair share. Why is Romney any different? He's NOT. Why not expose this whole fiasco for what it is. I know there are people out there that can do that, but they fear for their lives, I'm sure.
