Reportedly, FDR wanted to work on civil rights and desegregation. And didn't, because he knew it would cost him the Dixiecrats.

Interestingly, the three Southern Democrats in Congress who refused to sign it were Albert Gore, Sr.; Estes Kefauver; and Lyndon Johnson. Also interesting was that all three eventually had connections with the vice presidency in some way-- Lyndon Johnson, of course, served as vice president, Albert Gore, Sr.'s son served as vice president, and Estes Kefauver was Adlai Stevenson's running mate in the 1956 election.

But I felt if Obama had led like FDR from the beginning and taking on Wall Street and the Big Banks, he would still have a Dem Congress.
His embrace of Wall Street insiders allowed the anger they generated to be co-opted by the faux Tea Party movement.

is to try and convince Americans he does not really care much.

It is evil and it has to end, because the truth is not just what people believe, because lots of people believe in a white bearded God on a cloud in the sky..and it is still not the truth.

And not believing in the actual truth is dangerous, just ask the warming Earth.

5. Which is why Bush lost the Senate and House

Obama lost the Senate due to low approval rates at a time that we needed them higher. Today his approval rating doesn't mean much to be honest except for bragging rights I suppose and that and a dollar won't get you much.

How can his approval numbers alone at election time be so pivotal, but now they mean nothing?

You are kind of contradicting yourself in the same breath, with respect.

The Senate was lost because Democrsts ran away from Obama, how is he supposed to be a populist when a major part of his own party runs away from him?

United we stand....

42.0 on Election Day, 44.8 today.

His low approval number at election time was yet another media Big Lie to get Democratic candidates to run away..which the pathetic fools did.

its nice to be able to point fingers and cite our favorite beefs and narratives, but the vote totals were 20 million in favor of democrats.

We lost because of the odd circumstances of what seats were in play, and how the senate portions seats out to states regardless of size. It does suck, but it says less about what people think of Obama or policies than how the senate is designed.

Guess where the President will be the day after he delivers his State of the Union Speech tomorrow?
Yup, that's right . . right in my back yard, in little ol' Boise, Idaho!

President Obama must have used a dartboard to determine where to go to piss off the most conservatives in 1 state the day after he gives his speech before a Joint Session of Congress tomorrow night . . and Idaho was the bull's eye!
