Emily Miller, an investigative reporter for Foxs DC affiliate, insisted to Fox News on Monday that a recent terrorist attack in Paris was not stopped because the French people carried cellphones, but not guns.
I think, as far as French gun laws, its basically a gun-free zone, Miller opined to Fox News host Anna Kooiman. As weve seen in the United States, gun-free zones lure evil and crazy people like terrorists there because no one fights back.
So, gun-free zones like France, which unfortunately even the poor police arent carrying guns, is just very attractive to somebody who is going to go in with a gun.
But Democratic strategist Brian Benjamin pointed out that so-called lone wolf terrorists could go into any gun show and just pick up guns legally in the United States, even if they were on the terrorism watch list.

(9,350 posts)Some Democratic strategists need to do a better job with talking points. Whether a terrorist can legally buy a gun in the United States is not the main the issue. The FOX New anchor claimed the reason for the Paris attack was that there are gun laws, in Paris, that prevent Paris citizens from owning and carrying guns. She also said an attack like the one in Paris could not happen in America, or does not happen in America because American citizens can own and carry guns. The proper way to negate her talking points would have been to point to Eric Frein and others like him.
For anyone who does not remember, Eric Frein is the guy who shot at two state troopers, killing one of them. Frein did not go to a gun free zone and shoot people. He targeted two men with guns.
The same thing happened in Las Vegas. The two shooters did not go to a gun free zone. They did not attack people who did not have guns. First, they shot and killed at least one police officer. Then they went into a Wal-Mart and started shooting. The only person to die in the Wal-Mart, other than the two shoters who were eventually killed by the police, was a guy with a gun who tried to confront one of the shooters, but may have been unaware of the other shooter. The man with the gun was shot and killed by the second shooter.
The recent events in New York could have also been brought up. A few weeks ago a man, instead of targeting unarmed people targeted cops sitting in their patrol car(s). A short time later another cop was shot.
I am not saying guns should be banned in America. However, the events mentioned in the previous paragraphs prove that guns, and/or the chance of guns being present do not scare everyone seeking to harm people. The events that occurred in Paris can and do occur in the United States of America.
