Huckabee tells Nashville crowd that US has lost its way....

“God, Guns, Grits and Gravy” ' the pandering pastor

===========

Mike Huckabee, the subject of renewed buzz about a possible presidential run, told evangelical Christians gathered in Nashville Thursday that the country has lost its way as he warned of a disconnect between the nation’s elite and “middle America.”

Huckabee called the latter the land of “God, Guns, Grits and Gravy” — it’s the name of the former Republican Arkansas governor’s soon-to-be released book. In a 35-minute speech Thursday before thousands of his biggest backers, he pushed the book’s battle cry that a culture war has undermined the values that made this country great.

“It’s a descriptive term for flyover country, middle America,” Huckabee said Thursday, appearing as a guest speaker at an annual conference organized by televangelist Morris Cerullo, held this year at Nashville’s Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center. “For those of us who live in a place where it is not really all that strange to go to church. It is not weird to believe that we owe a dime of every dollar to God.”

But Huckabee, a former pastor and governor of Arkansas from 1996 through 2007, said the nation has lost what he called “our landmarks” — pointing above all to the word of God, which he called the “foundation of this country and of civilization.”

When Huckabee is considered as a potential presidential candidate, we've pretty much fallen off a cliff. In a sane country, he'd be laughed off the stage.

He's marginally tolerated due to his grip on the fundie fringe, but he will never be let near the levers of power; the Kingpins know him for what he is--a sincere lunatic.

George W Bush invaded Iraq in large part because he wanted a holy, religious war.

Huckabee will of course bomb Iran if president and kill as many Muslims as he can.

The last thing Huckabee or W is, is a christian.

Again, these people, this man, represents death and destruction and nothing else.

Huck is a huckster, doing what most repub candidates do: "run for president" in order to sell books and speaking fees.

Hell, I'm not convinced he's telling the truth about being religious in the first place. But oil and money were the primary drivers of that war.

If there is a shred of evidence to the contrary, I will review my position and adjust accordingly.

braindead christian assholes, I truly believe he is and I truly believe he saw this as christians vs non christians just like so many in the hierarchy of our military.

http://www.csmonitor.com/2001/0919/p12s2-woeu.html

He saw his war in Iraq partly as a "crusade" against terrorism, no doubt about it.

Huckster doesn't give his dime, he fleeces his flock and then spend it on himself however he sees fit.

"These are the things that I know. I know there is a God, and I know this nation would not exist had he not been the midwife of its birth. And I know that this nation exists by the providence of his hand, and if this nation forgets our God, then God will have every right to forget us," Huckabee said. "I hope that we repent before we ever have to receive his fiery judgment."
