And he's seeming like one of those people who will make it to 125 and advocate a diet of $15 scotch and jimmy dean sausage as the secret to long life.

More to the point, he's basically incumbent. This makes him a "safe bet," as far as the party establishment is concerned. He can also ride on the tails of the Obama administration - and Biden, unlike some Democrats running for office, is bound to capitalize on, rather than run from, Obama's achievements.

Over on the republicans' side, they see Romney as a "sure thing." They are completely convinced that the only reason he lost in 2012 was due to the twin powers of incumbency and melanin. Really, they think that Obama being black gave him advantage in the election. Romney is rich, white, bland, and not especially bright or willful. Just what the republican party wants.

Clinton is, at best, described as "divisive." This is not a good thing, when it's the party base that is divided. She's sort of a case example of the canyon that exists between the Democratic party, and the voting base of the Democratic party. She has supporters to be sure, but she also has a lot of opposition. And Jeb Bush? The Republicans are not going to put another Bush on the ticket until Jenna is 40. It's campaign suicide.

15. They like Jeb for three reasons

1) He's seen as a sure thing to deliver Florida; 2) He's seen as a Republican who can successfully reach out to the Latino community (he speaks fluent Spanish and his wife, Columba, is Mexican); 3) A Jeb candidacy plays to a larger narrative of rehabilitating the George W. Bush legacy.

Republicans are going to run arguing that the rise of ISIS/ISIL proves that Bush/Cheney was right about Iraq, and that the Obama administration has proven -- through the Gitmo releases and the release of the Torture Report -- that they are soft on Islamic terror.

Jeb's running mate will be Susana Martinez, Chris Christie, or Rob Portman (longshot: Condi Rice). The Republicans recognize that 2016 will be largely about the Latino vote and swing states.

The same is obviously true on the Republican side, and the problem they face is coming up with anyone who is perceived as moderate enough by the 35% +/- of independent GE voters, but conservative enough not to create a Tea Party or Libertarian wing walkaway.

I guess its useless to try to find some other candidates. When is Hillary going to actually declare she's a candidate and will she declare she intends to be "the losing candidate in 2016?"
