You might as well make it profitable. Anytime one of these nitwits starts going off about how "Obama's gonna grab muh guns," make them write it down, and provide their best estimate of the day that's going to happen. Then bet them $10 that it won't, and the bet doubles for every month after that when it doesn't happen. So, if Obama's going to take their bang-bangs away the day after his second inaugural, that would January 22, 2013. When it doesn't happen, nitwit owes you $10. But they can get $20 from you if it happens by February 22. Otherwise, it's another $20 from them to you. $40 by March 22, and so forth.

Make them put some money where their paranoia is. If they refuse, then tell them to shut up until they can start making some sense.

The Dixie Chicks pissed off their core fanbase, that being country music listeners. That demographic is absolutely rife with conservatives. Criticizing Dubya was just bad business sense.

Nugent, on the other hand, is expressing the views of his core fanbase nigh-on verbatim. Of course they'll support him!

Consider if Conan O'Brien were to start spouting off a lot of Republican tripe. His audience would find somewhere else to go real fast, wouldn't you think? It's less a matter of politics than it is of pissing off the people you depend on to keep your wallet fat.
