Catholics and Protestants Working Together?

Megachurch pastor Rick Warren released a video stating that more unites Catholics and Protestants than divides them and they should unite.

"In a new video, megachurch leader and author Rick Warren is calling for Christians to unite with Roman Catholics and “Pope Francis,” who Warren recently referred to as the “Holy Father”—a move that is raising concerns among Christians nationwide and is resulting in calls for Warren to repent."

Here's the link: http://christiannews.net/2014/12/02/rick-warrens-call-for-christians-to-unite-with-catholics-holy-father-raising-concerns/

This morning, because I hate myself, I was listening to the local Phoenix Catholic station and they were talking about this.

So, the Protestants and Catholics are united--in their anger at Warren. The guy on the radio said something like, "We can't all just join hands and worship the same thing."

I think this sums up almost all the world's problems. What do you think?

And I thought since the Pope seems to be relatively popular here and Warren wants to be a political kingmaker, I thought it might be all right.

Mods, if you want to lock or move, I understand.

different this time? Nothing. And I am sure that when push comes to shove Warren is not willing to give up his own brand of theology and although the Pope is moving away from some of their doctrines neither are they.

Some churches did not take part last time and some that did gave up their doctrines and now are nothing but social gatherings. So I do not see this going anywhere.

or are they convinced 'once a heretic, always a heretic'?

I notice that website has a whole section for 'apostasy'. That's hardcore fundamentalism.

when I heard it, I think I'd have tried to write it down.

He seemed more upset at the things the article got wrong about Catholicism and that the differences between the two weren't just things you could set aside.

One of my favorite things is a Muhammad Ali quote. He said religion was like water. There are many different names for it, rivers, lakes, streams, but it was all water, and it was all essentially the same.

Hearing stuff like this just makes me think there's no hope for the planet.

I don't care as long as they leave the rest of us out if it.
Here is a group of people all believing they have an inside track to the truth and no one esle does. And each group thinks the other group does not have the truth. Who gives a shit if they duke it out with each other over it?
Mark Twain had a story were he put various animals who usually fight into cages together and they all got along. Then he put a Catholic and a Baptist and a Hindo and a Moslem together and the took their differences to a higher power.

Warren and the Pope are the same thing in different costumes. They are united in that they have all of the same objectives about controlling other people and raking in huge sums of money.
