Mad was bought out by Time Warner several years ago. They immediately began running advertising (something former publisher William Gaines said he'd never do) and became relatively inoffensive, overall. After all, we wouldn't want the youth of America to grow up disrespecting authority and consumerism, would we?

They occasionally come up with something good, but sadly, it's not the great magazine that you and I grew up with.

for outlets like Mad that crumble & sell out. Is it because the owners are greedy, or the audience doesn't understand the saying "you get what you pay for"?
