Have we had the "Thanksgiving Dinner Ends In Shooting" story yet?

And, if not, is there a pool on which state gets to claim firsties?

I'll put in a spot on Pennsylvania. Texas and Florida nutballs come and go, but there's a respectably steady supply of them in PA.

3. Some things just don't take a holiday

And holidays have their unique constellation of mayhem - fireworks injuries on July 4; and all manner of drunken mayhem on New Year's.

The "family get together" aspect of Thanksgiving is not meant to be exclusive of any particular range of dysfunction of the family in question.

2. How about a knife murder in NYC, LA or Chicago?

Maybe those don't count.

17. Knife stabbings do not capture the spirit of this uniquely American holiday

I'm talking about Miles Standish and his musket sitting down with Geronimo and Paul Bunyan, mapping out how the USA was going to be the greatest country ever.

7. Mine ended in a stabbing.

But my nephew apologized and I put a bandaid on my thumb.

18. Like, an hour ago, my nephew stabbed me...

...as we were clearing scraps off the cutting board. He says it was an accident but I don't know...

i would always lose if that were the case.

"Arkansas farmer killed by turkey stampede" is the favorite, but... well, I know better than to get my hopes up.

24. I've checked the major news sites in Texas and thus far nothing has been reported.

It's still early in the day and the Cowboys vs. Eagles game has just began. The reporters also may have taken a brief break so I'll check in later.

25. Ah, Cowboys v. Eagles

No wonder it looks like a lifeless apocalyptic wasteland around here today.

Heh, I should run down to my neighbor's house and ask him if he could help me move some drywall for about a half hour or so... He'd give me that same look I got when I had him pick up my newspapers for a week and when I came back he said, "There's no sports section in that newspaper of yours."

30. It looks like I found the story that you anticipated.

Man arrested after 2 killed, 3 injured in Weir party shooting

Authorities have arrested a man accused of killing two people and wounding three others Thursday night in a trailer park off of County Road 934 in Weir, a small town in central Williamson County.

Jose Hernandez Benitez, 24, was arrested Friday in Caldwell County, where he fled after the shooting, said Fred Thomas, a spokesman for the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office. Benitez was transported to the Williamson County Jail on murder charges.

http://www.statesman.com/news/news/local/man-arrested-after-2-killed-3-injured-in-weir-part/njHdp/

FWIW, I used to drive through Weir, Texas frequently in the 80s and 90s since it is about 5 miles away from the university I attended in Georgetown, Texas. It was on the "rolling route" to get away from campus for drinking and smoking. The town had about 300 people, but has grown significantly since I graduated as the overflow from Austin reaches out to the rural areas.
