2. For those unaware of the history of the courthouse below the arch...

That is the courthouse that the infamous Dred Scott case originated in, it was a case that essentially declared that blacks had no rights in this country and was one of the major events leading up to the civil war.

The cover is brilliant because it ties the current racial divisions to the divisions of our nation's past history but in order to fully understand the cover you have to know the history of that courthouse which just happens to be located right in front of the arch.

is Dred Scott red-lining the marble tachometer.
Dred Scott is buried in the Catholic Cemetery on Florissant Avenue, not too far from where the riots were in Ferguson.
