Mitt Romney, guilty of voter fraud?
Posted on April 17, 2012
Mitt Romney faces up to five years in jail and a $10,000 fine if he did not live in his sons unfinished basement in 2010
In January 2010 the former Massachusetts governor proudly cast a ballot for Republican Scott Brown in the special election to replace the late Sen. Ted Kennedy. He didnt own property in the state at the time, and had registered to vote listing his sons unfinished basement as his residence. Massachusetts law defines a residence for voter registration purposes as where a person dwells and which is the center of his domestic, social, and civil life. Anyone found guilty of committing voter fraud faces up to five years behind bars and a fine of $10,000.http://dailycaller.com/2012/03/23/romney-voter-fraud-allegations-loom-as-general-election-liability/
Is this exactly like that voter fraud thing that the Republicans are always trying to pretend the Democrats participate in? Except that the Democrats dont?
Mitt Romneys motto: vote early and vote often!

If thats true, Romney showed a true commitment to voting for Republican Senator Scott Brown in last years special election, since he owns a $12.5 million home in La Jolla, Calif. and a $10 million home in New Hampshires Lake Winnipesaukee but no home in the state he was once governor.
Not that he was exactly roughing it. Romneys son Tagg and his wife greatly improved the property in recent years adding an in-ground pool and a jacuzzi to the rebuilt property that spans three old lots, bumping its assessed value up to $3.8 million.
Still, as Belmont, Mass. property assessment records I dug up show, the basement is unfinished hardly the standard the former investment banker would be used to. Heres a portion of the property record (Belmont Property View). http://blogs-images.forbes.com/brendancoffey/files/2011/06/Belmont-Property-View.pdf I have edited the image to highlight the basement description. Here is the full record: http://blogs-images.forbes.com/brendancoffey/files/2011/06/Belmont-Property-View-full.pdf Belmont Property View full. As a public record you can find the full report also through the town of Belmont here. The property was last inspected by the town on June 21, 2010, well after the states January special election that filled Ted Kennedys old seat.
Of course, as Karger argues to the Massachusetts Secretary of State, Romney likely didnt live in the basement, so it appears like voter fraud, a crime punishable by up to five years in jail and a $10,000 fine.

(17,362 posts)I read somewhere of 7 total cases in WI (prior to the passage and now holding of our voter suppression law). Of those 7, at least 3 were people who had two residences like vacation homes who voted in both places they "lived". Of course, it's not the poor who have two homes. Wish I could find a link for this though.

(5,668 posts)since the public perception is she committed voter fraud. similar to Sarah Palin and I can see russia from my house and Obama's Death Panels. doesn't exist but the perception is there. so as far as I'll be concerned she committed voter fraud. likely someone paid whatever to ignore said evidence..

(218 posts)Did Mitt Romney vote more than once in that election cycle? Does he have any evidence to prove he lived there? I can "say" I lived in the White House but would anyone believe me without proof? NO!!! So where's the proof that you lived there and were you and Mrs. Romney living there or was there some marital problems? This could be interesting if someone would do a little digging!

(9,213 posts)I have a pretty strong hunch that Romney WON"T actually be the candidate on the ballot in November. He'll probably make it through the Repube convention and get the nomination, but I'm pretty sure his Sept/Oct surprise is going to knock him completely out of the race. Then, they'll throw in whoever is next in line and it will be Newt's only chance to actually run for Pres since he would never actually win the nomination himself.........
I would only give it a 10% chance of Romney being on the ballot in Nov......so guess we'll just have to wait and see.

He doesn't have to own anything, even living with his son would count but only if it was his main residence and that to me is the thing that I bet isn't true.
