(16,296 posts)I guess I'm naive, I thought Poll Taxes were only applied to Blacks. Thanks for the education. How much was it? The bottom reads, "The sum of one and 50/100 dollars" - was it $151? If so, that was a huge amount in 1965. I remember making $1 an hr. as a young man and that would represent about 3 weeks of work.

Feels like we're going back to these awful days. At least they were upfront about it back then and gave you a receipt.
