This BREAKING NEWS!! is getting really old.

I remember when breaking news meant all broadcasts were interrupted to notify citizens of some critical event.

I was just watching MSNBC. Three shows in a row started with BREAKING NEWS!! about the Virgin Galactic II "anomaly, mishap, and crash".

Sorry to bother anyone. It just came to me how absurd that is. This started when they introduced capitalism into the newsroom. Breaking News is just a gimmick now, a show business construct.

Sometimes I get very nostalgic for better days.

Good to know.

12. Not really it was an engineering test flight and in rocket science, which this is, stuff fails

And when stuff fails in rocket science it usually explodes, which is really cool. Nothing is more fun than blowing stuff up in engineering tests!

Having worked in rocket science for many decades now, Failure during test is expected and planned for. I worked on programs where 10 test launches were planned and failure was expected and planned for in 9 out of 10 launches.

It is tragic people died and were injured, but the people on the craft knew the dangers and that is what they sign up for, it is part of the job. It is the price one pays to play with the latest toys. Believe me there is also a very long list of people willing to risk their lives to play with the latest toys too. Eveyone involved knows the risks.

This is not breaking news however it is news. Below the fold 10 pages back news.

5. To be fair sounds like you were watching a lot of news

Of course they are going to lead with something like that.

I can't stand cable news and rarely watch the local news either.

6. I'm a news junkie.

Have been for years. So I get all excited about the breaking news...

And then it is something like: "Malaysian Airliner still missing.."

So I feel your pain. Just differently lol
