3. But guns are so saaaaaaaaaaaafe!

A DUer has had his life devasted by gun violence, and yet, as noted already in this thread, the gunners will try to argue that guns are not a problem. Fearful people will fight to their last breath to make sure they have their deadly weapons because without them they think they will die. Yes, people are dying, but they don't give a damn.

They are very dangerous. It is this danger that makes them useful as tools.

22. I don't argue that "tools" such as long guns used for hunting are the major problem

Many countries with strong gun control allow guns for hunting. I have read gun experts who say a shotgun is far more effective for home protection than a handgun. Guns are very dangerous; that is why they need to be heavily regulated.

And media/public perception to ebola continues its over reaction?

Oh.

Open discussion of guns is permitted during very high-profile news events which are heavily covered across all newsmedia.

You insisted on an answer, so I gave you a sense of my impression of people who are so fucking concerned about their stupi gucking guns that they have to bemoan any discussion in GD as some kind of an acting to them. Give me a fucking break. If the issue if your gun is so fucking important to you that you post petty stupid shit on a message board and cry about it being in the wrong forum (boo hoo, oh wittle gun rightists follow the wittle rules) then yes, you have dimed yourself out as part of the problem.

Go to the gungeon and wait for someone to yank your chain there.

I try and have a civil discussion and this happens some of the time. You just admitted you cannot have a discussion in a civil manor with a fellow DU member. I find that very sad. I am not surprised as I see it at times but I try not to let it get me down as I try and take the high road and not do that. I think that it is possible to have a civil discussion here and a majority of the time and with most DU members, I do have them. Just disappoints me that some can not.

I think I will just hang around here. I do not like being told to censor myself from another poster. I will not post gun related posts in GD in deference to Skinner and the SOP guidance. That does not mean I will not at times respond to posts the the control side sneaks into GD and especially when firearms owners are broad brush attacked. A lot of these posts do end up getting locked, especially when the name calling and sexual references start showing as usually happens.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/1002853

And if you aren't aware, retired police are allowed to carry nation wide* as long as they keep up their annual firearms qualification, which isn't very stringent. Any changes in the law, however unlikely they are to pass, probably wouldn't have prevented the tragedy that happened to H2O's family.

26. Ban all Guns!!!

Guns, legal weapons of terror used by terrorists to terrorize the peaceful citizens of this country. They need to be banned and destroyed.

80. Lots of gunz are sold legally without a background check, as lax as they are.

82. Problem is, no accountability, no assurance of record keeping, it's could be use to invade privacy,

etc.

Gunners -- if they were as responsible as they tell us -- would never sell, or even transfer a gun to a friend/relative, without a background check through an FFL, instead of accepting a fistful of cash. But, gunners aren't as "responsible" as they like us to believe.

It's easy for you and your gun buddies to use an FFL to get a background check.

83. And how would you know if the sale accompanied a BC through an FFL?

84. If law enforcement identifies non-FFL transfer, gunner goes to jail and loses his other gunz.

Although you do bring up a good point, gunners are not as "law-abiding" as we are told.

85. NICS BCs are not recorded. You cannot prove or disprove a private citizen obtained a BC via FFL.

86. FFL maintains documentation under federal law. You need to check up on the gun laws.

Ignorance of the law is not a defense, although most of the gunners I've met would not have a hard time convincing the jury of their challenges.

88. You really need to review the law and what an FFL must keep. Typical gunner crud

is all you have.

89. I guess it's not enough for you to just be wrong, you have to be an obnoxious ass and wrong

Here is a pro-gun control site bemoaning the fact that approved BCs have to be destroyed after 24 hours. They also lament the BC form doesn't record the weapon being purchased. That underscores my original point that BCs performed exclusively by FFLs will have no additional benefit.

If you had an ounce of integrity you would admit your attitude was little more than you projecting.

91. Humans have more power over guns than mother nature

Guns are useless without a person pulling a trigger.

Viruses on the other hand is nature...And we do not control nature.
