WASHINGTON - There still is no consensus among Iowa Republicans on a favorite for the 2016 presidential nomination, though former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney leads the field at the moment, according to a new Des Moines Register/Bloomberg Politics Iowa Poll.

Romney, the GOP’s 2012 nominee, has the backing of 17 percent of likely attendees at the first-in-the-nation Iowa caucuses, the survey found.

But retired Baltimore neurosurgeon Ben Carson was second at 11 percent, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul was third at 10 percent, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee fourth at 9 percent, and Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan fifth at 8 percent.

Talk about a bunched field....
