A newer member to the movie group I'm part of came out as a flaming faux noise watching lesbian.....

and she's a republican!! and I've got a ton of stuff in common with her.... both love the new CD with Tony Bennet and Lady Gaga, love wiener dogs, and both enjoyed the movie we went to. Yikes.... was actually surprised we were able to talk without really talking about politics!!!

Important to find common ground and be able to communicate with people you disagree with politically. And sometimes that communication and interaction leads to them changing their opinions. My former Repub sister is a case in point.

A neighbor of mine, whom I love dearly, was raised by her grandmother who was a daughter of the confederacy. When we are out chatting, and the conversation gets close to the events in Ferguson (we live about 30 miles from there), I say "Oh, look at that squirrel!" or bend down to play with her dog.

I can see where she learned those ideas, not that I understand them...but don't you wonder HOW your friend came to be a republican?

Right now, am happy I've been able to enjoy talking to her about some of the things we DO have in common.
